Who needs this much

Honestly, most overland builds do not. This is for large 48V house systems, multiple inverters, serious winch work run off the house bank, or installations where several high-draw loads can run at once. If you are running a single 2,000W inverter and a fridge on a 12V bank, the 500A or 1000A unit is the right choice and the money is better spent elsewhere.

Where it does make sense: expedition vehicles with full house systems, builds with a 3,000W+ inverter plus an electric cooktop, and anything running 48V where you want one shunt that will never be the limiting factor as the system grows.

Tell us your inverter size and whether anything high-draw runs off the house bank. We will tell you honestly if the 500A or 1000A does the job — there is no benefit to oversizing a shunt beyond your actual peak current.
