Victron Phoenix Inverter 12/1600 120V – VE.Direct, NEMA 5-15R Pure Sine Wave
$425.00
1600W pure sine wave — enough for an induction burner, a small microwave or a full tool charger. The largest Phoenix in this range.
At 1600 watts you are into genuine appliance territory. A single induction burner, a compact microwave, a full-size power tool fast charger, or several things at once — this is the size where the vehicle starts to feel like it has real power rather than a convenience outlet.
This is a system decision, not a product decision
1600W at 12V pulls around 135 amps. That number drives everything else in the build:
- Battery: you want 200Ah of lithium minimum, and 300Ah+ if you intend to cook on it. Lead-acid is not realistic at this draw.
- Cable: the run from battery to inverter needs to carry 135A without meaningful voltage drop — that is heavy cable, properly terminated.
- Fusing: sized for the inverter, close to the battery, and rated for the fault current a lithium bank can deliver.
- Charging: whatever you take out has to go back in. A 50A DC-DC charger and 400W of solar is a reasonable match.
Fitting a 1600W inverter to a 100Ah battery and thin cable is the most common expensive mistake in van and truck builds. It either trips constantly or gets hot enough to be dangerous.

Talk to us first on this one
At this size we would genuinely rather have a conversation than take the order blind. Tell us the battery bank, the cable run length and what you want to cook on it, and we will tell you whether the rest of the system is ready for it.
