Most DC-DC gear wants a dry, protected home inside the vehicle. This one does not care. The Orion IP67 is fully potted and sealed to IP67, which means it can be mounted in the engine bay, under the body, in a wheel well or anywhere else that sees water, dust and vibration.

Where it earns its money

On an overland build, cabin and storage space is the scarcest resource you have. Being able to put a 1200W converter outside the living space — on the firewall, on a chassis rail, in the engine bay — frees up room that would otherwise go to electronics. It also keeps a heat-producing component out of the space you sleep in.

This is a 12V-to-24V step-up converter at up to 50A output. Common uses are running 24V equipment from a 12V vehicle, or feeding a 24V battery bank.

Note on the direction

This model steps 12V up to 24V. If you need to go the other way — 24V vehicle down to a 12V system — look at the 24/12 version instead. Easy to get backwards; ask us if you want it confirmed.
