A flat clear case with closed-ripple foam inside and a latch that holds. Flies press into the foam and stay where you put them, and because the shell is transparent you find the one you want without opening five cases first.

The rounded edges are the detail that matters. A square-cornered case catches on a pocket seam every single time you reach for it. This one does not, which is the difference between a case you use and a case that lives in the truck.

Takes large and small flies in the same tray. At 8 x 5 x 1.2 inches it slides into a chest pack, a vest pocket, a door pocket or a drawer divider - and plenty of people use closed-foam cases like this one for things that are not flies at all, because foam holds small sharp parts better than any divider does.
