Most tackle bags fail at the bottom. You put them down on a wet dock, a boat deck with an inch of water in it, or a bank that was underwater last week, and the fabric wicks it straight up into whatever is inside. This pack has a moulded waterproof base — a hard tray, not coated cloth — so where you set it down stops being a decision.

Inside is one large compartment sized for 3700-series StowAway boxes, with die-cut sleeves that hold tools still instead of letting them rattle loose and slice the lining. The slip pockets on the outside are for the things you grab every ten minutes: clippers, a leader spool, your phone. A daisy chain down the front takes clip-on accessories if you run them.

Why a pack rather than a bag. If you walk to the water — a bank, a kayak launch, a trail down to a creek — hands free beats a shoulder strap every time. If you fish from a boat or a tailgate and never carry it far, the Guide Series bags hold more for similar money and are easier to work out of.
