A solar controller measures voltage at its own terminals, not at the battery, so every bit of voltage drop in the cable makes it charge slightly wrong. This reports the real voltage and temperature at the battery over Bluetooth and lets the controller correct for it.
The long-range version reaches 10 metres, which covers a battery under a seat or in a bed box with the controller mounted forward.
