Ramps are the recovery tool that needs no second vehicle, no anchor and no winch. Dig out in front of the tire, wedge the ramp under it, and drive out. In sand, mud and snow they are often faster than rigging anything.

The pull strap is not a detail. A ramp that has just been driven over is buried somewhere behind the vehicle, and the strap is how you find it and pull it out rather than digging for it. People who buy ramps without straps generally buy straps later.
