A 3/4" 4.75 ton recovery shackle — the traditional steel bow shackle, and still the right tool where a soft shackle will not do: a tight recovery point, an abrasive edge, or a bracket that needs a pin through it.

Handle steel shackles with respect. Under load they store energy, and if a connection fails they travel. Screw the pin fully home then back it off a quarter turn so it does not seize, keep a damper over the line, and keep people out of the pull zone.

Finish: Zinc. Sold in pairs, which is how most people actually need them — one at each end of a strap. Buying the pair costs less than two singles.

Always pull from a rated recovery point. A tow ball, a bumper bracket or a factory tie-down loop is not one. Rated points are bolted to the frame and marked as such — if you are not sure what your vehicle has, find out before you need it, not while you are buried to the axles.
