A 6 oz spray of oil of lemon eucalyptus repellent.

Oil of lemon eucalyptus is a plant-derived repellent with real evidence behind it, which is unusual — most "natural" repellents do not hold up. It is the one botanical option recognised alongside DEET and picaridin.

Six ounces is the family or group size, and the right buy if lemon eucalyptus is what you reach for — you will use more of it than you would picaridin, because it needs reapplying more often.

One label warning that matters: oil of lemon eucalyptus is not for children under three years old. For younger children, use the picaridin products instead.
