A 50-piece first aid kit in a soft zip case — adhesive bandages in assorted sizes, gauze, antiseptic wipes, tape and the basics for cuts, scrapes and blisters.

The honest argument for this kit is price. Most people do not carry first aid because the good kits cost real money and the decision gets postponed. Eight dollars removes the decision.

It handles what actually happens: a cut finger opening a can, a blister on day two, a scraped knee. It is not a trauma kit and does not pretend to be.

Buy three. One in each vehicle and one in the day pack. The kit that is with you beats the better kit at home.
