The SOL Scout — a compact survival kit with fire starting, emergency shelter, signalling and basic first aid together in one pouch.

The argument for a packaged kit over assembling your own is honesty about human nature. Most people intend to build a kit and never finish, and a bought kit that is 80% right and actually in the pack beats a perfect kit that exists as a list.

Covers the four things that decide an unplanned night out: staying warm, making fire, being found, and treating an injury.

Good for a day pack, a glovebox or a kayak. Open it once at home so you know what is in it before you need to know.
