The smallest complete cook kit GSI makes, and the one for people counting both ounces and inches. A 0.6 liter stainless pot boils your water, then the lid inverts, the pot slides into insulating sleeves, and you are drinking out of it. Packed it is 4.2 x 4.2 x 4.6 inches — about the size of a large mug, which is the point.

The gripper is insulated and sticks magnetically to your fuel canister while you cook. The folding spork packs to 3.7 inches and extends and locks to 6.1 inches, long enough to get to the bottom of a freeze-dried pouch. Stainless steel, nylon and silicone.

Glacier Stainless is exactly what the name says — stainless steel, no coating, nothing to scratch through or wear out. It is heavier than aluminum or titanium and it takes a little longer to boil, and in exchange it will take abuse for years, you can scrub it with whatever you like, and metal utensils do not bother it.

Who it suits: one person, one pouch meal, one coffee. If you cook rather than rehydrate, or there are two of you, look at the Dualist instead.

Care

Hand wash with warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly; GSI asks you to avoid abrasive cleaners. Wash before first use with hot water and mild detergent. Do not let it boil dry, let it cool before cleaning, and dry it completely before storing.

GSI's caution: never heat it to extreme temperatures or allow it to boil dry; pot and lid are intended for stovetop use only; not for use with microwave ovens, conventional ovens or open campfires.
