A stainless steel mess kit. The pieces nest into one bundle: frying pan, plate, cup and lid.

The appeal of a mess kit is that it is one object until you need four. Nothing rattles loose in a box and nothing gets left behind at the last camp, because it all clips back into the same bundle.

Stainless rather than aluminium, so it takes direct flame, scrubs clean, and does not pick up a metallic taste.

Good for one person. A kit each is tidier than a shared stack of plates when you are moving camp every night.
