Two things separate XD from the standard HD awning, and both matter at camp:

• Integrated lights — run along the awning arms, so you are not clipping a lantern to something or working by headlamp while you cook.
• Blackout coating — the canopy fabric blocks light rather than glowing through it. Cooler underneath in real sun, and genuinely dark under the canopy, which matters if anyone is sleeping beneath it.

Grey hex body with black trim and a black travel cover — the same awning as the all-black version, if you would rather not run a solid black canopy in desert sun.

Choosing a side: the awning wraps toward the rear from whichever side it mounts on. The driver-side version is listed separately.

Before you order: check whether you have mounting brackets — the bracket kit is a separate item.

Opened, the full-size 270 shades up to 129 square feet — enough to cover the side of the vehicle, the rear corner and the tailgate together.
