An enclosure is a step beyond walls. Walls close the awning in; an enclosure gives you four walls and a floor — a sealed room off the side of the vehicle, off the dirt, that you can leave standing while you drive away in the morning if you are staying more than a night.

That floor is the part people underrate. It keeps dust, mud and insects out of a space you are going to be barefoot in, and it makes the difference between a shelter and somewhere you actually want to sit at the end of a long day.

Built for the wrap-around awnings, so the enclosed space carries around the rear corner of the vehicle and usually brings the tailgate inside the room. If the kitchen lives in the back of the truck, that is the argument for it.

The XD fabric carries a blackout coating that blocks light rather than diffusing it, so an enclosed XD room stays genuinely dark and noticeably cooler than a grey HD one — which matters most if you are trying to sleep past sunrise or get out of real heat in the middle of the day.

Enclosures are model-specific. This one does not fit the straight 2.0 or 2.5 awnings, which have their own.
