A rugged all-purpose outdoor blanket: insulated and heat-reflective on one face, waterproof on the other.

This is not emergency gear pretending to be a blanket. It is a proper blanket that happens to be good in an emergency.

Waterproof backing means it goes straight on damp ground, on a tailgate, in a truck bed, or over gear in the rain. The reflective side makes it genuinely warm to sit under at a cold camp.

Big enough for two people to share at a fire or a game, and tough enough to shake out and throw back in the truck.

The one you will actually use on ordinary trips, which is the best thing that can be said about any safety-adjacent item.
