A bi-directional chainsaw chain with a handle at each end, in a carry pouch.

Loop it over the limb, pull alternately, and it cuts. A six-inch branch takes a couple of minutes — a hatchet takes ten and a lot of bad swings.

No engine, no fuel, no bar oil, nothing to maintain or go wrong. It rolls into a pouch the size of a fist.

Earns its place twice: firewood in camp, and clearing a downed limb across a trail when turning around is not an option.
