A heavy duty snatch block rated to 20,000 lb.
A snatch block does two jobs: it changes the direction of a winch line so you can pull from an angle, and running the line through it and back to the vehicle roughly doubles your pulling power at the cost of halving line speed. On a bad recovery, that trade is worth making.
The side plate opens so the line drops in mid-rig — you do not have to feed the whole line through, which matters when the winch is already out and under tension.
Snatch block or recovery ring? A block has a rolling sheave, which is easier on steel cable and handles repeated heavy pulls. A ring has no moving parts and is far lighter. If you run steel cable, take the block.
Lay a recovery damper — a heavy blanket or purpose-made bag — over the line before any pull under load. If something lets go, it drops the line instead of letting it whip.
