Pure sine is the same waveform as household power, which means the fussy things work: CPAP machines, induction plates, variable-speed tools, electronics with switching power supplies. A cheaper modified sine inverter will run a kettle happily and then buzz, overheat or simply refuse on about a third of what you plug into it. If you only buy one inverter, buy a pure sine one.
