These bags are made from #16 premium cotton duck canvas infused with paraffin wax — the same material tradesmen have used for a century, for the same reason. Waxed canvas sheds water, takes abrasion without tearing, and gets better with age rather than worse. A nylon bag looks new until the day it splits; a waxed canvas bag looks used from month two and lasts a decade.

The roll format is the point. Unroll it and every compartment is visible at once, laid flat — which is exactly what you want when you are working on somebody and cannot spend a minute rummaging through a zipped pouch.
