The Pod Rack is a truck bed rack with lockable storage built into it. Two steel pods sit along the bed rails, adjustable crossbars run between them, and the whole thing bolts in as one system.

It solves a problem most truck owners just learn to live with. An open bed is a great place to put things and a terrible place to keep them: recovery gear slides around, tools end up under everything else, and nothing is secure the moment you leave the vehicle. A bed rack on its own gives you height but no storage. A toolbox gives you storage but eats the bed and does nothing above it. The Pod Rack does both at once.

The pods lock, and they lock alike. Both side pods take the same key, so you are not standing in a parking lot working out which key opens which box. That is the difference between gear you can leave in the truck and gear you carry into the motel every night.

Read the two capacity numbers carefully, because they answer different questions. The 120 lb dynamic rating is what the crossbars carry while you are driving — that is the one that governs a roof top tent, a spare, or anything else living up there on the trail. The 330 lb static rating applies once you are parked. If you are planning to mount a tent, check its weight against the dynamic figure first, and talk to us if it is close.

The MOLLE panels run inside the pods as well as outside, on a standard 1.25 inch grid. That means off-the-shelf MOLLE pouches, straps and mounts fit it — you are not locked into one brand's accessories, and you can organise the inside of a pod rather than treating it as a hole to drop things into.

The eight-piece modular build is what makes it worth living with over time. Crossbars adjust along the rails, the pods can be configured to suit what you actually carry, and it stacks — so the setup you start with is not the setup you are stuck with.
