Genuine 550 paracord: commercial Type III cord with a minimum break strength of 550 lb, kernmantle construction — an outer sheath over seven inner strands — in 100% nylon. Made in the USA.

The seven inner strands are the reason this cord is worth carrying over cheaper line: pull them out and you have seven lengths of thinner cord for a field repair, a boot lace, fishing line or sewing thread, with the sheath still usable on its own.

Not for climbing or life support. 550 cord is utility line — use it for guy lines, lashings, tarp ridgelines, gear repair and tie-downs, not for anything that holds a person.
