A cargo box for the trailer tongue — the A-frame section forward of the trailer bed.

The tongue is otherwise wasted space, and it is the right place for the things you want separated from the main load: fuel, recovery gear, tools, anything you would rather not dig for or would rather not have inside with the food and bedding.

It also puts weight forward of the axle, which is where you want tongue weight for stable towing.
