humangear makes this utensil from what it calls Bio-Resin — a plant-based polymer sourced from crops the company says are monsoon-irrigated and do not compete with local food supply. humangear does not publish the resin’s chemical identity, and it makes no compostable, biodegradable or recyclable claim for it. We are not going to invent one. What the manufacturer does state is that the material is BPA-free, polycarbonate-free and phthalate-free, and that the utensils carry a lifetime warranty.
