A 270-degree awning that mounts on the passenger side and sweeps from alongside the vehicle around the back of it — roughly three-quarters of a circle of shade, covering the side, the rear corner and the tailgate area in one canopy.

That rear coverage is the whole argument for a 270 over a straight awning. The tailgate is where camp actually happens: cooking, gear sorting, sitting out of the sun. A straight awning shades the side and leaves the back exposed.

Choosing a side: the awning wraps toward the rear from whichever side it is mounted on. Passenger side puts the canopy over the doors you actually use at camp, and keeps the shade on the side you step out onto. If you would rather have it on the driver side, order that version instead.

Before you order: check whether you have mounting brackets. Nomadic awnings mount to a rack or bar, and the bracket kit is a separate item if you do not already have one.
