GSI Pouch Spoon — Grey, 9 in.
$1.95
Nine inches of reach, for the bottom of a freeze-dried meal pouch.
A 9 in. long grey spoon in acetal. 9 x 1.8 x 0.7 in.
GSI's own description: "Perfect for scooping, scraping or stirring rehydrated pouch meals." And: "With a total length of 9 inches, it also has the reach for narrow, tall backcountry cookware."
Nine inches is the whole point. A normal spoon in a freeze-dried pouch means knuckles in the food and a sleeve covered in stew. Two extra inches of handle solves a problem every backpacker has had and nobody talks about.
Same reach works in a tall narrow pot, which is the shape most backcountry cookware is.
Acetal. Won't stain, won't hold smells.
Two dollars. Of everything on this page, this is the one that most reliably makes people say "why did I not have this before".
Hand wash with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
