GSI's own claim, and it is the right one: the pivot makes "floppy, collapsible tools a thing of the past." Collapsible camp tongs are famously useless — they fold under load exactly when you have a hot sausage in them. A handle that locks solid is a different tool.

They collapse for packing and lock rigid to use, so you get the pack size without the floppiness.

Nylon 6-6 means they can touch a hot grill without melting and will not scratch a coated pan.

A note on size: GSI's own page gives two different figures — the description says 7.75 in. extended collapsing to 6.5 in., while the specification table says 8 in. We have not picked one.

Hand wash with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
