These are cooking utensils, not eating utensils — the lengths are the giveaway. Ten to eleven and a half inches keeps your hand away from a hot pan and reaches the bottom of a deep pot.

A ladle is the piece everybody forgets and then improvises badly with a mug. If you cook anything with liquid in it — chilli, soup, stew — you need one.

Nylon 6-6 is the high-temperature grade. It will not melt against a pan the way cheap nylon does, and it will not scratch a coated surface the way steel does.

On a ring, so the three stay together and hang up to dry.

Hand wash with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
