One quart of stainless steel kettle, 6.3 x 5.9 x 3.5 inches, with a folding handle that locks into place when you are boiling. A 110 g fuel cartridge nests inside. Includes the kettle and its lid.

Glacier Stainless is exactly what the name says — stainless steel, no coating, nothing to scratch through or wear out. It is heavier than aluminum or titanium and it takes a little longer to boil, and in exchange it will take abuse for years, you can scrub it with whatever you like, and metal utensils do not bother it.

On open fire: GSI's own description for this kettle says you can use it “over a campfire or coals as well as gas stoves,” and unlike the rest of their cookware the caution on this page does not forbid campfires — it only rules out microwave ovens. Stainless with no coating is the material you would choose for fire cooking, so that reads as deliberate rather than an oversight. It will soot up on the outside; that is what fire does, and it scrubs off.

Care

Hand wash with warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly; GSI asks you to avoid abrasive cleaners. Wash before first use with hot water and mild detergent. Do not let it boil dry, let it cool before cleaning, and dry it completely before storing.

GSI's caution: never heat it to extreme temperatures or let it cook dry, not for use with microwave ovens, handles can get hot, never expose handles to direct flame. GSI also notes that dishwashers may prematurely age components, and that a crazed or fractured part should be retired and recycled.
