A 17.5 x 8.3 inch welded stainless steel grill that stands 5.3 inches above the fire on folding legs and collapses to 1.8 inches flat for packing. Corrosion-resistant, heavy-duty, and GSI describe it as designed for generations of service, which for a piece of welded stainless with no moving parts beyond the hinges is a reasonable thing to say.

The detail that makes it better than a bare grate: the rim is doubled and wraps around the edge of the grill, so pots and pans stop at the edge instead of skating off it into the fire. Anyone who has lost a pan of coffee off a flat grate will understand why that is worth paying for.

Pair it with the GuideCast cast iron — the one GSI line with no restriction on open fire — or with the Glacier Stainless kettle.

Care

Hand wash with warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly; avoid abrasive cleaners. Stainless steel over a wood fire will discolor and soot up. That is cosmetic.
