An instant tent has its poles already attached to the body. You unfold it, extend the legs and it stands. For a late arrival in the dark after a long drive, that is the difference between camp set up in a minute and camp set up in twenty.

Cabin shape means vertical walls. A dome tent wastes its height in the middle; a cabin tent gives you usable floor right out to the edges, and enough headroom to stand. Six-person rating is honest for four people with gear, which is how most of them get used.

Vented rainfly included. The vents matter more than people expect - a sealed tent with four people in it on a cold night is a wet tent by morning.
