A two-person emergency tube tent in fire-retardant, waterproof polyethylene, 2.5 mm thick. 8 feet (2.4 m) long. 400 g. Orange. Cord and instructions included.

A tube tent is a tube. You run the supplied cord between two trees, thread it through, and the tube hangs as a ridge with you inside it. No poles, no pegs, nothing to break or forget.

The cord being included is the point. Most emergency shelters leave you to find your own line, which is exactly the thing you will not have.

Fire retardant matters more than it sounds for an orange plastic tube you will pitch near a fire when you are cold.

Orange, because an emergency shelter should be the most visible object in the landscape. From the air or a ridge, orange on green is seen; green on green is not.

Four hundred grams for two people's shelter. It lives in the bottom of a pack for years and costs you almost nothing to carry.

This is emergency kit and a fair-weather overnight shelter — not a tent. There is no floor seal and no insect netting.
