Bright non-adhesive marking tape for flagging a route, a turn, or where you left the vehicle.

Useful any time you are moving away from camp in terrain that looks identical in every direction, or marking a turn on a trail you will be coming back down in the dark. Tie a strip at eye level and it is visible from a long way off.

Also worth having in a recovery kit to flag a hazard — a hidden stump, a soft edge, a winch line under tension that somebody might walk into.

Take your markers down on the way out. Tape left behind is litter, and it misleads the next person through.
