The everyday plastic peg. Nine inches is the size most tents ship with, and the size most people need spares of.

Ribbed polypropylene shaft, wide enough to grip normal soil properly, with a notched head that holds a guy line or a tent loop. Light, cheap, and they do not rust in a wet gear bin.

Tent stakes go missing. They get left in the ground at pack-up, they fall out of the bag, and you discover the shortfall at the next campsite in fading light. Keeping a spare six-pack in the truck costs eight dollars and saves an evening.
