Four light sticks in assorted colours — green, blue, red and yellow. Glow time: up to 12 hours. Lanyard included with each.

Twelve hours is the number that matters here. That is dusk to dawn, which means one stick covers a whole night — marking a tent line, a guy rope, a vehicle at the roadside, or the way back to camp from the toilet block.

Coghlan's states they are non-toxic and neither flammable nor combustible.

A light stick needs no batteries, cannot be switched off once started, cannot start a fire and does not care about water. That is why they end up in glove boxes, life jackets and children's hands — there is nothing to fail and nothing to go wrong.

The lanyards are the overlooked part. A stick on a cord hangs at head height where it is seen; a stick on the ground lights a patch of dirt.

Note: Coghlan's does not state the light source on this product page, so we have not claimed one. What they do state is the glow time, which is what you are buying.
