Grommets pull out. It is what they do, usually at the corner taking the most load in a crosswind, usually on the tarp you needed that day.

This kit sets a new grommet into the fabric with the included die and anvil — you supply a hammer or a rock. Half a dozen spares in the pack means a torn-out corner is a five-minute job instead of a dead tarp.

Set the new grommet an inch inboard of the old hole, not in it. Fabric that has already torn once will tear again.
