Coghlan’s Fireside Gaming Kit
$12.99
Cards, dice, paper and a pencil in a tin. The rainy-afternoon insurance policy.
In a tin container, 6.1 in. x 4.1 in. x 0.86 in. (155 x 105 x 21 mm): a deck of cards, paper, a pencil and six wooden dice. Coghlan's says it comes complete with rules for games including Go-Fish, War and Yahtzee.
The paper and pencil are the parts everyone forgets. Half of what you can play with cards and dice needs somewhere to keep score, and a tent is the one place on earth where there is never a pen.
A deck of cards and six dice is a genuinely enormous number of games for a tin the size of a paperback. This is the single best weight-to-entertainment ratio in camping.
Buy it for the weather, not for fun. Everybody packs for the trip they are hoping for. A tin of cards is what makes the third wet afternoon in a tent survivable.
The tin keeps the cards flat and dry, which is the reason a loose deck in a pack is ruined by the end of the season.
Coghlan's states ages 6 and up.
Coghlan's does not publish a player count or full rules on their product page, so we have not invented either. What is listed above is the box contents exactly as Coghlan's gives them.
