The Pro-level trauma pack: QuikClot hemostatic gauze, a tourniquet, trauma dressings and gloves.

Serious bleeding is the injury where minutes decide the outcome and a box of plasters does nothing at all. If you run a winch, a chainsaw or recovery straps, you already own things that can cause one.

Adding a tourniquet is what separates this from the smaller packs. For a serious limb bleed, a tourniquet is the intervention that buys time.

A tourniquet needs to be applied correctly and tightly enough to hurt. Watch a reputable instructional video once — the technique is simple and completely unobvious.

Seventy-five dollars for the kit that covers the injury most likely to actually kill someone before help arrives.
