A citronella candle, 3.5 in. (8.9 cm) across, 3.5 oz. (98 g), with a lid to cover it when it is not lit. Burn time: 16–18 hours.

Read this before you buy it as bug protection. Coghlan's makes exactly one claim about the citronella: it "provides a pleasant citronella scent when lit". They do not say it repels mosquitoes, and we are not going to say it for them. If you want insects kept off you, buy a repellent you put on your skin — we sell picaridin and DEET from Natrapel and Ben's, and they are tested to do that job.

What this candle actually is: 16 to 18 hours of light and a little heat, in a tin you can close. That is a long evening's light on a picnic table, or a night's worth of emergency candle in a vehicle, and the lid means it goes back in the camp box without wax across everything.

Coghlan's lists it as usable as an emergency candle for heat and light, which is the more honest reason to own one.
