A dry-film lubricant is for the places where wet grease is the wrong answer because it collects grit. It sprays on wet, the carrier flashes off, and what is left is a dry PTFE film that lubricates without attracting the dust and sand that would turn grease into grinding paste.

That makes it right for drawer slides, zips, awning arms and rails, latch mechanisms, door seals, tent pole joints, and anything sandy that needs to slide. A rooftop tent hinge treated with this still works at the end of a dusty week; the same hinge greased does not.
